September 16, 2010, Created by Dane
Many parents and teachers have found six steps toward making education more fun. They bring history to life by: 1. Visiting an historic home, old churchyard or restored village. Taking a look back at family history. You can let your youngsters interview grandparents and other relatives about their experiences. Making a family expedition to the library to look up local history. You may care to try back copies of the newspaper. Using picture books or an encyclopedia to help kids create costumes or imitation artifacts from olden times. Reading an old book or at least one set in the past. Westerns or romance novels will do. Having young people view videos about entertaining times past. For example, a video about the Chicago World s Fair of 1893-also called the Columbian Exposition-reveals it was a showplace for startling new...

Getting Your Preschooler Ready To Learn To Read And Write
May 27, 2010, Created by Reba
I recently took a class with my daughter I found very educational, and I thought I would share some of what I learned with you. The class was aimed at 3-5 year olds and was on helping preschoolers get ready to learn to read and write. Obviously, and as any parent these days knows, one important thing to do is read regularly to your kids. However, only about half of the activities each day had to do with reading to the kids. The rest focused on helping the kids build the skills they will need as they learn how to read and write. Muscle development is very important, but you can t just expect a preschooler to develop their hand and finger strength out of the blue. First they need to develop their larger muscles. The first class they had us doing wheelbarrows holding the kids by their legs or ankles and having them walk on their...
Recurring Sinus Infection- An Explanation?
March 21, 2010, Created by Wesley
As part of our efforts to chronicle the experiences of sinusitis sufferers, a gentleman named Carlton contributed a Sinusitis Treatment Success story. He pointed out a study conducted by the Mayo clinic and the University of Buffalo addressing the issue of recurring sinus infection. It states that chronic sinusitis is an immune disorder caused by fungus. I asked Carlton in a follow-up email if he had tested positive for fungi in previous allergy tests, and here is his response: Hello Walt: I had 2 different allergy tests, both negative. of Buffalo research says this is not an allergic reaction like a pollen allergy, so it wouldn t show up in an allergy test. It s an over reaction to fungus by T-cells that damage the sinus lining and gives bacteria a place to grow. Most people have no reaction, but most people with chronic...

Asbestos is a general term applied to certain fibrous minerals long popular for their thermal resistance, tensile strength, and acoustic insulation properties. Asbestos minerals are divided into two groups: serpentine and amphibole. Only one type of asbestos is derived from serpentine minerals: chrysotile, also known as white asbestos. Amphibole minerals include five asbestos species: amosite, crocidolite, tremolite, anthophyllite, and actinolite. Two of these are the most commercially valuable forms: amosite, or brown asbestos, and crocidolite, or blue asbestos. More than 30 million tons of asbestos in its various forms have been mined in the past century. Asbestos is one of the most pervasive environmental hazards in the world, present in more than 3,000 manufactured products. All forms of asbestos can result in asbestosis a...
